Are you seeking easy-to-implement social-emotional activities for middle-school-aged youth, whether in school or out-of-school settings? These SEL Activities may be small in size but deliver a significant impact.
Activity: In this middle school SEL activity, students self-reflect and provide goals regarding the person they want to become. They reflect on the impact they can make as a young person and realize that they don’t need to wait until they are an adult to become the person they want to be.
SEL Core Competencies: Self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills
Grades: 6-8
Time: 30-35 minutes
Essential Questions: Why is it more important to think about who you want to be than what you want to be when you grow up? How can you make a difference as a young person?
Student Action: In the coming days/week, students will try out an action step to continue their journey toward becoming the person they aspire to be. Importantly, they can look to adults, peers, and others they trust for support.
Program Connections: This activity focuses on identity—a theme that runs through our Middle School core programs. To learn more, visit our PROGRAMS page.
