SEL Activity: The Power of Inclusion

SEL Activity: The Power of Inclusion

Are you looking for easy-to-implement social-emotional activities for your classroom? These SEL Activities may be small in size but deliver a significant impact.

Activity: Students watch a TEDx Talk by a third-grader sharing a moment that changed her view on diversity and inclusion. Afterward, they explore the impact of inclusion by role-playing scenarios—first showing what exclusion looks like, then demonstrating inclusive behavior. Through reflection and action, students gain a deeper understanding of how to make others feel seen and valued.

SEL Core Competencies

Social awareness: Empathy

Self-awareness: Growth mindset

Relationship skills: Relationship-building

Grades: 2-3

Time: 30-40 minutes

Essential Questions: How can appreciating and understanding differences help make a community stronger? Why is it important to make sure everyone feels like they belong? What are some ways you can help make others feel included and supported?
