We asked the educators and students from Gildersleeve School in Portland, CT to share their feedback about their ThinkGive experience. Here is what they had to say.
Educator: Sam Starr
Grade: 3rd grade
Started partnering with ThinkGive: 2019
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with your ThinkGive experience? 9
In your opinion, how did ThinkGive impact your students, if at all? It made them think about intentional giving. Their world is mostly receiving.
Can you share a story, anecdote, or something that made you smile? I really appreciated that many started to realize the mindfulness/stress reduction work we have been doing is an example of giving kindness to themselves.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are to your recommend ThinkGive to a friend and/or colleague? 10
We surveyed the students who participated in ThinkGive, and the results were outstanding. After participating in ThinkGive:
93% agreed that ThinkGive helped them connect with their friends, 100% with their family, 81% with their teacher(s), and 72% with their community.
91% agreed that after ThinkGive they will be kinder to others; 81% agreed they would be kinder to themselves.
82% agreed that “I feel empowered that I can make a positive impact on my world (myself, others, my class, school, other communities).”
And the students had some wonderful things to say about the program:
“I learned to be kind to anyone I see and meet!!!”
“Words can mean a lot to a person and small acts of kindness can help a person so much if they are struggling.”
“Not only to GIVE to others but GIVE to yourself.”
